Politics and politicians

Whenever we aspire, we rarely aspire to become a politician. There is no certainty in their career. They may be in the ruling party at one time and be in a high position. It may not take much time for them to topple down to the pit in the career. The field of politics have always been a debatable one. When we see people enjoying preferences and position and power, we feel that politics is the best field that one can work in. But on the other hand, when we read review about a politician’s life we feel it may not suit us.

Politicians do not have a private life. They are constantly under the attention of media and public and any slight wrong activity they do can harm their reputation. Now politics have become much more streamlined and there is corporatism in politics. People are expected to behave like leaders and there are rules and regulations that they too like normal citizens have to adhere to. There is no leniency that is shown to them for their power. Their job is like any other job which has responsibilities towards the public to be delivered and if one does not do it well, he can be removed from the position.

US President Barack Obama has vowed to “ratchet up the pressure” on Iran over its controversial nuclear programme.

Mr Obama told CBS television Iran was becoming increasingly isolated and the US wanted to enlist the help of “a unified international community”.

Amid talk of new sanctions, he earlier telephoned Chinese President Hu Jintao to seek China’s co-operation.

Their talks came as Iran’s top nuclear official, Saeed Jalili, said in China that sanctions were “not effective”.

“In our talks with China it was agreed that tools such as sanctions have lost their effectiveness,” he told reporters in Beijing.

Mr Attarzadeh was the commercial attache at the consulate.

His abduction came amid a surge of violence in the region and a wave of attacks blamed on Islamist militants.

“He has been freed,” Abbas Ali Abdullahi, head of the Iranian consulate in Peshawar, was quoted as telling Reuters news agency. “It’s confirmed that he has reached Iran.”

Mr Abdullahi gave no further details of how Mr Attarzadeh’s freedom was secured.
